How you can make the difference for your company?

 
One of best bets is: Trust and give the empowerment to the Purchasing team. 
I worked at all kind of companies and this gave me a good perception about the significant difference that Purchasing Department can do in a difficult situation. 
It’s very strange when we see that some company in a crisis moment, do not realize the power of a good purchasing strategy, they know that need to apply a very important cost reduction plan asap, but they don´t count with the power of purchasing team. 
Many times, in the market, we are facing with a company that needs to improve the results to survive and doesn´t know how to solve that, so the only choice that most of companies take is to push the sales force (it’s natural to count with them).  During the consulting, that we did, we already saw many companies that are requesting repricing to their customers , stressing the business and sometimes because of that, they lost other opportunities with their customers, and when you asked about their Purchasing team contribution, they don´t have anything to present because they don´t give to the purchasing team the empowerment to do better, to apply ideas out of the box or at least count with this powerful force to help them on the cost reduction tasks.
To be part of the solution, it’s means to be open to check and recheck the costs and to be prepared to receive complete new ideas, to do that, is one of the most important things in the roadmap to recover your company results. On this topic it’s essential that your Purchasing team was be prepared and have the empowerment to give you solutions of cost reduction.
The Purchasing team should be a specialist on negotiation, should have the correct tools to do that and it’s essential part of your battle plan to improve your company results. 
So, our questions for you are: How are you challenging your Purchasing team? Are they involved on the cost reduction process that you need to survive? Are they prepared and with the correct tool to give you those cost reductions that you need?
For companies that are passing through this kind of situation the question is: why do you don´t trust more in your Procurement team to get the better results?
Remember: 1 US$ that one single buyer is saving is 1 US$ more in your result and finally in the end of the year can be a huge difference in your results. So be more open to empower and listen your purchasing team, with the correct tools and strategy, they will be more than POs forwarders, they will give you results! The Magic of Negotiation Strategy

Normally when we don't know how to control the negotiation strategy , we think that its complete different when you are in the one side of the desk as commercial guy or in another side as purchaser, but when you get a little bit more experience, you catch the point and you realize that the strategy basically is the same , what its the difference is only the point of view but this off course is part of the game, so commercial strategy is essential for both sites, nobody can go to the negotiation room without a good preparation, without to know very well the speech of your adversary . So. in this case, the point is, you can be a good sales man, or can be a good buyer, but must have attention on the hole business that you must close, know the details and the background is mandatory and on top of this you must be prepared, it's essential to know all the strategy and the negotiation tools that you can use on the negotiation.

The real magic of that is not the position that you are occupying at that moment. It's how much you are prepared to negotiate and win the game. So yes, if you have the correct trainning and develop the negotiation skill, you will enjoy this position, you can play in the both sides without any regrets. This can be a very good opportunity to you, to play in another playground••• maybe discover new good opportunities. A good business professional can do that and be sucesseful because the main quality that he/she has is the negotiation skill. So let's be prepared ! Let's focus on your development!!!

Team Work  makes Dream work!

Team work spirit as a strength point is a natural skill or can be developed during your professional course? What is it means in fact? 

When we are looking for a professional with this skill on the market, it’s important to be sure that he will know to work with the team. In fact, as managers, we want that this person comes from the market with back ground to be flexible and fits his/her style of work in the team, on company culture, etc..

 

At this situation we should consider 2 main points to consider:

 

1 º - Team work brings dream work, this is true, in fact, when we are looking for a person that can fit on the team, he/ she can contribute, and bring fresh ideas to them and sometime influence the team to look for new ideas, refresh the how to reach objectives. Ideas out of the box can come when we have new element in the team with a different vision.

 

2 º - This kind of skill is one of the most important during a leader development, so when we are looking for that, in fact we are looking for the future, because team spirit is a skill that we can use to develop the employee or even the whole team.

This skill can be a natural skill this employee, but of course can be developed by the manager / mentor or during the professional career that this employee had. In some position, this will be the key to have an entire new team, professionals with this capacity, normally have the respect of the colleagues, develop an important internal networking and will grow up on the career.

The good starting point to a future leader is to have this motivation: team spirit!

Think about the leaders that you admire, and you will find this skill as one of the most being among other things and important skills.
